History of National Zoological Park –

The main objective of establishing Delhi Zoo, established on 1 November 1959, was to provide a healthy and affordable holiday to the residents and tourists in the national capital. Known as Delhi Zoo, this park was given the status of National Zoological Park in 1982 for being the ideal zoo of the country, after which it came to be known as National Zoological Park.
